The Gemeinsame Bundesausschuss (G-BA) is the highest decision-making committee of the joint self-administration of doctors, dentists, psychotherapists, hospitals and health insurances in Germany.
It decides about the services covered by the compulsory health insurances for more than 70 million insured persons.
webfactory was responsible for the technical implementation of the 2007 relaunch of G-BA's website. The design of the new website was created by Bosse+Meinhard Wissenschaftskommunikation.
The particular challenge for the redesign of G-BA's website was the combination of two quite contrary requirements. As a central information source about the public health system, the website had to feature lots of different contents with complex cross links. At the same time, the site had to offer a high usability for very different user groups (public health institutions, specialists, doctors and patients) as well as a high standard of accessibility.
To achieve this, webfactory developed a tailored database solution based on the content management system wfDynamic 4. Thus, the complex documents can be easily managed by G-BA and can be browsed by the website visitor using different criteria.
