wfDynamic for managers

wfDynamic is the web application framework of webfactory GmbH and is licensed under an application service providing (ASP) model.

wfDynamic basics

wfDynamic is built on basic components from Open-Source technology. It is programmed in PHP and uses MySQL database.  This combination is one of the most widely used and developed website platforms.

The following aspects wfDynamic are continually emphasized and are always considered during the development process:

  • Simple handling
  • Easy configuration of individual project requirements, while still allowing for updates of newer versions
  • Optimization of website ranking by search engines (see below)
  • Universal access for websites maintained using wfDynamic

As a commercial system, wfDynamic has perfected system architecture at its command leading to efficient system development and enhancements. Both a centrally coordinated upgrade system and defined development/release processes allow us to provide our customers the most to date versions of our software seamlessly.

Application Service Providing as a license model

Application service providing (ASP) is usually understood to be software available through renting or leasing by paying a fixed monthly fee. wfDynamic ASP-fee is a comprehensive cost for the license purchase and software operation:

  • Software license
  • Server hardware, operation, administration and maintenance
  • Software updates and the installation thereof

wfDynamic ASP consists of a very fair and transparent license model:

  • The ASP price includes all incidental costs for the operation of the software (Total Cost Ownership).  There are no hidden or extra costs, especially not for:
    • Hotline and support service
    • Installing updates
    • Server administration and/or
    • Troubleshooting and debugging
    A comparison of wfDynamic ASP to other (non-asp) systems on the market shows webfactory to be quite competitive.  Other systems require support, maintenance, administration and debugging fees which typically far exceed the monthly fee for using wfDynamic.
  • At webfactory, customers only pay for the software for as long as they wish to use it.
  • The ASP contract can be canceled at any time.

Basically, the monthly ASP-license payment secures the long term further development and enhancement of wfDynamic.  It is our sincere interest to offer an attractive product to our customers for as long as possible.

Expertise and Support

As the producer and developer of wfDynamic, webfactory handles all details of the system.  Therefore we not only give reliable information concerning realization of specified requests and requirements but we can also quickly diagnose problems and correct them.

We take customer feedback and requests very seriously and use them directly in the development process as wfDynamic is further enhanced and improved.  At the same time, webfactory guarantees that during the development process individually created functionalities will still be available and functioning in the next update.

In addition to our free customer support, our customers also profit from the direct contact to producer and developer of the product.  When a customer calls us, we put him/her in direct contact with a member of our development team (designer, software developer, etc.) who can quickly help solve the issue or answer questions. 

Open-source and producer independence

wfDynamic is based on established standards. wfDynamic templates can be created and/or further developed and enhanced by any qualified PHP/MySQL developer. Upon cancellation of the ASP-contract, the customer is given option to acquire the software including source code for an agreed price, so that a producer independent upgrade (for perhaps the content management system) is possible.

All data relating to wfDynamic (in the databases) is archived in a structured, relational databank scheme. It is no problem to do a complete export of the data or set up continual (ongoing) access to use in other systems, even for cases independent of the content management system.

Distribution

wfDynamic has been enhanced and expanded by webfactory since 1999. Currently the system is used in over 50 projects, mostly as a web content management system. It is also implemented as an administration system and framework for a wide variety of database applications.
